Digital inclusion scheme extended across Leicestershire – applications are still open!

The Digital Poverty Alliance have expanded their ‘tech4youth’ scheme into Charnwood, Melton and Hinckley & Bosworth, meaning 11-19 years old in these areas can apply for a free laptop, along with support with internet connectivity and digital skills. The initiative had initially only been open to young people in North West Leicestershire.

Please note applications are now closed.

The Digital Poverty Alliance are working with Barratt Developments PLC and The Barratt Foundation to support 90 young people to get online.

The tech4youth initiative will benefit young people in Leicestershire by providing a free laptop, digital skills workshops, and connectivity support if they need it.

The laptops are not a loan or a rental – it is yours, for good.

How does it work?

Applicants will be asked a few short questions and someone from the community (like a teacher, councillor, librarian, GP or social worker) will need to agree to also confirm that you need a laptop.

As this project is supporting young people in their home, the applicant must either be the parent or care giver of the young person (who must be aged 11-19) – or you can apply yourself if you are aged 16-19 – and you must not have access to a suitable device.

Applications are open now. You can apply for a laptop at www.digitalpovertyalliance.org/tech4youth.

If you would prefer a paper application form, text 07984 445476 starting your text T4Y, and include your name, street address and post code – an application form will be sent to you by post.
